Often a lawyer may come off as untrustworthy to clients, but that is not the case for Thomas R. Nash. Nash focuses the majority of his attention on building a foundation of trust with his clients. His goal is to show his clients that he cares about them and wants them to receive the benefits that they deserve. He believes that too many people are being denied disability benefits for unjust reasons and would like to do everything in his power to put a stop to it.
When he began working in law as a staff attorney, he took note of the vast number of people being unjustly denied disability benefits simply because they were not able to work on account of their physical or mental health issues. Deciding this injustice had gone on long enough, Nash opened his own law firm in 1989 to assist those who had been denied disability benefits for unjust reasons.
For Nash, work does not just stay in the office. Since the job is so close to his heart, he takes his work home with him. Following in his father’s footsteps (who was a judge in Cook county), Nash decided that he, too, wanted to join the Legal career. He attended University of Notre Dame where he met his wife, Ann Nash, who attended the neighboring school, St. Mary’s. After graduation, they both attended Loyola Law School in Chicago. Now, she assists him in helping those who have been turned down by Social Security Administration and denied Social Security disability and Supplemental Security Income benefits. Together, they have gathered thirteen lawyers and thirty-five support professionals who call themselves the Nash Disability legal team.
The Nash Disability team’s main focus is the people. They want to help those who have been wrongfully denied benefits that they should have a right too. Just because a man or a woman is not able to work for physical or mental disabilities does not mean they should be denied the benefits that so many others who are exactly like them in every way besides being able to work receive on a daily basis. Most people who apply for disability benefits are turned down and the team wants to change it. Nash Disability Law’s goal is to obtain a future where people cannot be denied the benefits they require for unjust reasons; a future where almost everyone who applies for the benefits receives them.
